Percussion Studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) is a unique program with the goal of developing artists through the medium of percussion; inclusive of performance, improvisation, composition, critical theory, and pedagogy.  The SIUC Percussion Department offers a variety of distinctive performance opportunities, learning conditions, and a singular educational experience set in scenic southern Illinois.  The SIUC Percussion Department has a long and venerable history that includes a significant role in the development of the Percussive Arts Society and its publications, which were first printed at SIUC and edited by, then PAS President and SIUC Director of Bands and Percussion, Don Canedy.  Following Canedy, the publications were overseen and edited by SIUC Percussion Alumnus and Indiana State University (Terre Haute) Director of Bands, Neal Fluegel.
