Students will have the opportunity to work with Dr. Wilson in the preparation of one of his works for band or choir, culminating in a performance of the work during Saturday's concerts.

Each February, SIUC University Bands and Choral Activities host the Heartland Honor Band and Choir Festival. Approximately 200 of the finest high school musicians from southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri gather on campus to work with SIUC faculty and some of the world's leading conductors and composers.
Past guests have included Eric Rombach-Kendall, John Bridges, Carolyn Barber, Margene Pappas, Frank Ticheli, Quincy Hilliard, Richard Miles, David Holsinger, Robert Jager, Ed Huckeby, Dale Lonis, Mallory Thompson, and Robert Sheldon.
The festival culminates in two free concerts on Saturday afternoon featuring the Honor Choir and SIUC Concert Choir and the Honor Symphonic and Concert Bands and SIUC Wind Ensemble.
