Dear Saluki Silks Members,
First, I would like to thank you for your interest in the SIUC color guard, more commonly known as the Saluki Silks. It is my pleasure to officially welcome you to the Marching Salukis family. This year will be much different from those in Saluki Silks history.
This season will be my second year as the Saluki Silks instructor. I also come to you with four years as a high school guard instructor. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns throughout the season—I am very easy to talk to!
I have many goals for you as a Saluki Silk member. I hope to broaden your base of color guard moves, musical terms and marching techniques. I hope to teach you precision and several new memorization techniques. You will enrich your concept of teamwork throughout the season. You will also be taught the mechanics of your flags.
I am looking forward to this season. Take pride in being a Saluki Silk!!!
“It’s a great day to be a Saluki!!!”
Ashley Kirkendoll, SIUC Color Guard Instructor
